The New Area Code for San Antonio

The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) has approved a new area code for San Antonio. The new area code, 45, will be added to the existing 210 area code on October 28, 2023. This means that all phone numbers in the San Antonio area will need to be updated to include the new area code.
The new area code is being added to the San Antonio area because the existing 210 area code is running out of numbers. The PUCT estimates that the 210 area code will be exhausted by 2025. The addition of the new area code will ensure that there are enough phone numbers to meet the growing demand in the San Antonio area.
If you live in the San Antonio area, you will need to update your phone number to include the new area code. You can do this by contacting your phone service provider. You will also need to update your phone number on all of your accounts, such as your bank account, credit card account, and driver's license.
The addition of the new area code will not affect your phone service. You will still be able to make and receive calls to and from the same phone numbers. However, you may need to dial the new area code when calling from outside the San Antonio area.
